First off ... Terrus, my world
Hey guys! Here is the next post ...
First of all, I want to talk about the setting for my story. It's set in a modern day monarchy, where technology is of the highest caliber. Everyone depends on their phones, tablets and other devices. But, there is a certain feel to this world that makes it a little other-worldly.
This is the map of my world. I call it "Terrus", or the world. In the lower right corner is the Realm in which the story of the first book extends from. I've named it "Idrris" and it is the largest province in this world. I find that as I write, this map really helps.
I had this map in my head for weeks before I decided to draw it out. I'm not an artist, but I couldn't wait to have a professional help me, so I figured I would try to draft it out, and this is what came out of my head.
As I write this trilogy, all the different parts of the map will come into play. In the first book, A lot of the action comes out of Idrris and Arrtesh. To the upper left corner is the province of Arrtesh. That part of the world is where the villain in my story resides. As you get into my story, you'll be introduced to characters that live in the different regions of Idrris, as well as the different places my main characters visit.
Honestly, I never thought I could do this. I had been toying with the idea of creating a story and a world for years. Always thinking that this task would be too enormous, even for me. Though, I have been writing for years, I hadn't thought I was capable of doing something like this. But, back in the summer of this year, I got the inspiration. It started with my main character, Ardis Anglewood. His character is based off of a video game character, well part of him is. A few qualities that stood out to me, I put into Ardis. The idea I had for him was that he was loyal to his King and did his duty well. His life is service, never really knowing anything else. Until he meets Elia Edlestien, my lead female character.
She brings a bit of drama into his life, and he isn't sure how to handle it. I loved this idea that Ardis would be conflicted between his new feelings for Elia, but struggling to keep his head clear for his duty to the King, and his country.
Now you know where the title of this blog comes from ... For Love and Country.
In my next post, I'll talk a little more about the main characters, and the story. I'll also talk a little about the editing process my first book is going through, and publishing.
Until next time, stay tuned ... <3
