Self publishing and Literary Agents ...
Yes, I am seeking other routes as far as publishing for my first book goes. My first publisher, while they do seem like they're worth it, turned out to be a glorified self publishing company. There is much to be thought of before I continue with them.
They are wanting to work with me, and publish my book. And, that is great news for me. I now have confirmation that I have something really good on my hands since they have reviewed my manuscript and have offered me their services. Of course, I can't afford them, but I'll just have to do more research into different companies.
I am also looking into getting a literary agent. I don't know much about these agents, but I am doing my research, and will find one that I can work with. Hopefully. I'm also looking at other self-publishing companies. So far, they're about the same. All wanting me to pay almost $10,000 to get published.
It's frustrating to say the least. I can't afford it and I don't want to be paying monthly installments for the next 3-4 years. That defeats the whole purpose. I want to be paid to get my book published. I mean, I think that's the way it should be, right?
So, I guess it comes down to a choice between two. Either, I self-publish or I get a literary agent. I figure they're going to cost around the same, so I am looking into ... investors. Or, if you are a literary agent that is starting out, I might like to work with you. We could help each other out ... yeah!
That's gonna be it for now ... I am trying to work on the book today, but my thoughts are consumed with this. So, I will use this energy to find the best publishing option for me. Hopefully, I will settle on something soon.
Until the next post ... <3
