It's coming along ...
The year is coming to a close, and I am still working on the second book. Yes, I know this one is taking much longer than the first. Good news, tho! I've reached my second goal of 50,000 words! That comes out to about 140 pages. I think that's some good progress.
Nevertheless, I need to get to it and just finish already. I'd say it's about half done, but I still haven't worked on the really meaty chapters. Boy ... they're gonna be good!
So, I know this is kind of going backwards and defeating the purpose of having a laptop, but I'm handwriting again. I've been working on the "Rock Show" chapters, jotting them down with handwriting. I don't know ... I just feel inspired to work that way at the moment. Sounds tedious to write them down, then type in what comes out on paper. But, it's fast to me and I am able to concentrate and work that way.
On that note, I'll try to keep updating here on this blog. I don't know how many of you care to read, but I'll be posting anyway.
Now, let's see ... a little about the chapter I'm working on. In this chapter, Elia's second event is coming to life: the Rock and Light festival. We'll see the characters getting into the music and the general good time happening around them. The festival is three days long and happens at the amphitheater with the adjoining large field. It's two venues with a food alley in the middle. My four main characters have decided to stay for this event as the King wants to support his people, and his new Events Specialist, Elia. In the midst of all this, Ardis finds himself upon the lovely Elia and the two decide to sit and catch up. It's been a while since they've seen each other, and the last time, it was ... interesting. So, there's all these feelings coming up and circling the two, especially since Elia is supposedly with another man. But, that's as far as I've gotten in the chapter. It's already pretty long, so I'm thinking about splitting it into two chapters, maybe three. I guess we'll just have to see.
After I've completed the Rock Show chapters, I'll move on to the one with Boann. She is the King's third trial and that is going to be a big one. There is no real battle in this book, so I'm spicing things up with each trial that the King goes into.
As I read through the chapters already done, I feel the book is coming along very well. The story is getting more interesting and the characters are developing at a good rate. I hope that my audience finds this segment enjoyable and I want them to be able to relate to the different characters and the scenarios they're put in.
To the right side, I've placed a picture of a sort of nymph. She is what I imagine Boann to appear as when the King finds her. I don't know who did this image, but it is beautiful and a good representation of what I want Boann to look like in human form. But, when the battle starts, she'll turn into a serpent, kind of like the one I have pictured below. In this form, she will be a formidable opponent and definitely hard to beat. Will the King come out triumphant? Or, will he be the capture of this serpentine Goddess? I guess you'll just have to wait and see.
That's about as far as I'm willing to go with the update to my story for today. I hope it's getting interesting to you all. It's really frustrating to me that I don't have the first book published, or even in the process. So, I will do my best to jump on that so you can all start reading and getting into my trilogy! Yes, I am still excited about it all!
Until the next post <3
